2015-16 Week 9 – Oct 12

Hello all! We’re almost at the end of Quarter 1, so we’ll be focused this week on making sure that everything’s caught up and ready to move forward.

Let’s take a look at this week:

  • Monday
    • In-class essay–outline and rough draft due at the end of the class period
  • Tuesday
    • Discuss “Sinners in the Hands of Angry Gods” p. 102. (Make sure that you’ve done your pre-reading and pre-class annotation before you come to class!)
  • Wednesday
    • National Testing Day–All Sophomores will take a practice ACT. PLEASE take this seriously. It will give you a good idea of the things that you’ll need to do to prepare to take the ACT for real (ideally in April and then again in the fall).
  • Thursday
    • Unit 1 test on Native American and Puritan Literature–you should have all of the study guides, but check the Class Notes section if you’re missing any.
      • “Earth on Turtle’s Back”
      • “Navajo Origin Myth”
      • “Of Plymouth Plantation”
      • “Huswifery” and “To My Dear and Loving Husband”
      • “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”
  • Friday
    • Article of the Week response due
    • Literature Circle Novel silent reading day–all students must bring Literature Circle novel to class
    • End of Quarter 1

Whew! That’s quite a lot. Let’s take a look ahead, too, though, so that you can make sure you’re on track:

Good luck to all of you in the various sports that are winding down and to those who are gearing up to get started. Oh! And congrats to the Math-letes who won their competition on Friday! 🙂
