2015-16 Week 15 – Nov 23

Thank you all again for your prayers! I’m feeling them! 🙂

This is a short week, so make sure that you make the most of your time in class. Mrs. Newell is going to show you a movie version of the novel in class Monday and Tuesday, but remember that they aren’t usually 100% accurate. I would not rely on this for your unit test on Dec 2!

I’ve decided that I’m going to extend your Huck Finn Multigenre Project due date to 12/4. I should be back at school on Monday, Nov 30, so that’ll give you a few days while I’m around to ask questions and get help getting everything uploaded and formatted correctly onto your websites. PLEASE do not wait until next week to start working on your components, though! Your final grade on this Multigenre project counts as a Test/Writing grade (which is worth 50% of your average), so you’ll want to do well and score as high as possible on that.

Even though it’s a short week, you’ve got some things coming up. Let’s take a look:

  • Sunday, Nov 22
    • 9pm Turnitin.com deadline for Essay #4!
  • Monday, Nov 23
    • Final Draft Essay #4 due in class (printed copy + rough draft attached to back)
    • Huck Finn movie in class
  • Tuesday, Nov 24
    • Huck Finn movie in class
  • Wed-Fri, Nov 25-27
    • Happy Thanksgiving! Eat lots of turkey and have a great time with your family. If you’re traveling, please be safe. My prayers are with you.

Let’s take a look at the week after, too, just so you can be prepared:

  • Monday, Nov 30
    • Reading Quiz–last half of novel
    • Work on Huck Finn MG project pieces
    • Work on Study Guides
  • Tuesday, Dec 1
    • Work on Huck Finn MG project pieces
    • Work on Study Guides
  • Wednesday, Dec 2
    • Archbishop’s Visit–see schedule below *
    • Huck Finn Final Test
    • Vocab Project due in class (Google Classroom)
    • Study Guide Project due in class (Google Classroom)
  • Thursday, Dec 3
    • Advent Penance Service *probably altered schedule
    • A period–finish Huck Finn tests, if necessary
    • Finish up HF MG project pieces, final touches
  • Friday, Dec 4
    • Article of the Week response due (Google Classroom)
    • Huck Finn Multigenre Projects due
    • Multigenre Presentations begin

Note that the Archbishop will be visiting on Wed, Dec 2 when you’re having your final Huck Finn test. Most of the classes will be normal length that day, so we’ll go ahead with the test. I’ll run it the way that I did last time–you get page 1 and as much time as you need with that, and when you turn it in, you can have page 2 (and so on–I haven’t written the test yet, so I don’t know how many pages it will be). I’m not sure what the schedule will be for the Penance Service the next day, but I’ll adjust as we need to. Honors, your class will be shorter, so just plan to take the second half of the Huck Finn test on Thursday.

*We’re running a different schedule for Wed, Dec 2. Here’s a look at that:

  • 7:30-8:17 1st Period (47 min.)
  • 8:21-9:08 2nd Period (47 min.)
  • 9:12-9:59 “C” Period (47 min.)
  • 9:59-10:09 Break
  • 10:13-11:00 “D” Period (47 min.)
  • 11:10-12:10 Mass
  • 12:15-12:53 “E” Period (38 min.)
  • 12:53-1:18 Lunch
  • 1:22-1:59 “A” Period (37 min.)
  • 2:03-2:40 “B” Period (37 min.)

Have a great short week this week. I miss you guys! Happy almost Thanksgiving!
